Don’t forget that Sunday is game night.
I still need character descriptions, for use on the Roster page, from some of you.
The current level of XP, for those who have been with the game since the beginning is now 32,525 + 12,485 = 45,010
In last week’s session (02/05/12) the party remained within the cavernous interior of the zaratan shell. Once a massive sea turtle dwarfing the mightiest dragon turtle, the zaratan had once served as the Leviathan, protector of the Devils’ Purse. Now that duty fell upon the hydrimera, a three-headed creature currently held captive by the storm hags of Cloudsea.
Within the hollow shell of the zaratan, a shallow cove now protected a dimly-lit sandy floor bespeckled with outcroppings of soft corals and polyps. Colorful reef fish darted between the soft and stony corals, protected from the larger predators lurking above.
Swimming amongst them was the hagshead eel. Comprised of shrunken hags’ heads once lashed to stony stalactites above, the snake-like creature was led by the tsantsa Meir. One by one, the unliving heads fell, freed by the triton called Current. One by one they joined the collective swimming below, empowered by Eyebite, the hags tooth talisman. One by one – save one.
One tsantsa, of pale hue in skin and hair, had not joined with her sisters. The shrunken head remained unmoving, save for the lump upon her forehead. Upon closer inspection, the lump was revealed to be a pearl carved in the likeness of an eye, similar to that seen upon the scrag that once fought the party.
Mindful of his companions, the aventi Noi slipped above the surface, onto the shell of the zaratan itself. There he noted that hundreds of loose bones, once strewn within the barred cave of the krampus, now squirmed and writhed with new life. nestled within the bundle of bones was a single sphere, a translucent orange pearl. As the mass of fish and seagull boned dispersed, it slowed to a collective crawl. As Noi plucked the pearl from the pile, the bone mass fell instantly apart. Within the pearl. a diminutive form squirmed.
After the Ninety and Nine had last summoned their song, a flock of seagulls had fallen to their deaths within the zaratan cove. The feast had drawn a school of blacktip sharks which departed as quickly as they had arrived. Only a single zebra shark remained. At first the shark seemed to attack the hagshead eel, but then it darted swiftly away towards the center of the cove.
There, half-buried in the sand, the remains of a wooden dingy were found by the sea cat called Hasu. Holding fast to an oar carved of ivory was a human cadaver. Like the corpse in the cell above, the remains were clad in a cloak of grey. Bracelets of tri-colored gold fashioned in the likenesses of scallops were found on the dead man’s wrists.
As night fell atop the surface of Synsaal, the waters within the protected cove were illuminated with an eerie luminescence. The stalactites above were dotted with green glowing lichen, while the polyps growing in the shallows lit the waters with hues of blue.
“NeeKaa, I feel myself slipping away, into this collective.” the frontmost head spoke, her eyes glowing with fires of brilliant amber “Do not interfere. Do not mourn for me. If something good comes of this, then all the better. We can destroy that beast which guards the final altar, I know it!”
